Five Tools

One app.
Five audio tools.

Every tool is accessible from the bottom navigation bar — switch instantly between Meter, Analyzer, Generator, Camera, and History.

Meter
Real-time dB SPL gauge with arc display, level label (QUIET / LOUD / VERY LOUD), and 15-second SPL graph
Analyzer
Frequency spectrum analyzer — see which frequencies are dominant in the ambient sound around you
Generator
Generate pure tones from 20Hz to 20kHz. Choose Sine, Square, Triangle, or Sawtooth waveforms
Camera
Overlay the live dB reading and waveform on your camera view — capture measurements as photos and share them
History
View saved sessions by Today, Week, Month, or Year. Each session shows average dB, peak level, and a bar chart of readings
dB Reference Chart

What does your
reading mean?

The meter labels each reading — QUIET, MODERATE, LOUD, VERY LOUD, DANGEROUS. Here's what the levels correspond to in real life.

0–30 dB
Quiet
30–60 dB
Normal conversation
60–80 dB
Busy street / vacuum cleaner
80–100 dB
Very Loud — prolonged exposure risky
100–115 dB
Dangerous — concerts, power tools
115+ dB
Extreme — jet engine, sirens
Features

Five tools.
One pocket meter.

Sound Meter is a complete audio measurement toolkit — built for anyone who needs to measure, analyze, or generate sound using their Android phone's microphone and speaker.

Real-time dB SPL meter
Circular arc display shows the current dB level with a color-coded arc — amber for normal, red for loud. Reads Average, Minimum, and Maximum dB simultaneously.
15-second SPL waveform
A scrolling real-time graph shows the last 15 seconds of dB readings as a continuous waveform — instantly see spikes, patterns, and changes in ambient sound.
Tone generator 20Hz–20kHz
Generate pure tones across the full human hearing range. Choose from Sine, Square, Triangle, or Sawtooth waveforms. Use for speaker testing, hearing checks, or acoustic experiments.
Camera overlay & capture
Unique Camera mode overlays live dB readings and waveform on your camera feed. Take a photo to capture the measurement in context — great for documenting noisy workplaces or construction sites.
Session history with alerts
Every saved session is stored with timestamp, average dB, peak level, and a bar chart. Red alert badge flags sessions where dangerous sound levels were detected.

Use Cases

Who needs
a sound meter?

More people than you'd think — from construction workers to music producers to worried parents.

🏗️
Workplace safety
Monitor noise levels at construction sites, factories, or workshops. Flag dangerous dB levels and document readings with Camera mode for safety reports.
🎵
Musicians & producers
Use the tone generator to test speakers, check room acoustics, or generate test tones for equipment calibration across the full 20Hz–20kHz range.
🏠
Home & neighbourhood
Check if noisy neighbours or street traffic actually exceeds safe levels. Save sessions over time to build evidence of persistent noise problems.
🎓
Students & teachers
Demonstrate sound waves and frequency concepts in a classroom. The frequency analyzer and tone generator are excellent teaching tools for physics lessons.
🎧
Audio engineers
Quick acoustic checks without carrying a dedicated meter. Use the frequency analyzer and SPL meter for rough room assessments or live sound setups.
👨‍👩‍👦
Parents & families
Check if your child's bedroom, nursery, or school environment has safe ambient noise levels. The session history tracks trends over days, weeks, and months.

Measure every decibel.
